History: Baldwin is the sweetest boy with the saddest story. He needed rescue after being found in a dump. He was getting around with an awful gimp because of a broken leg that was likely left untreated for years. He is settling into rescue and getting the best medical care. He would love to find a family to call his own! He will melt your heart! He would make a great therapy dog.
A note from the foster: Baldwin is a very sweet older gentlerman. When he arrived at rescue his left rear leg was fractured and healed abnormally and had to be amputated. His right rear leg is strong, but he has some degeneration/arthritis in his lower back that gives him trouble at times, especially if he overdoes it. He has been taking 3 medications for his back. I would not recommend him going somewhere with a lot of steps unless someone would be willing to help/or carry him. He is not overly active, he hangs out in the house. He loves to be petted and brushed. It is a committment to adopt Charlie because of his issues but you won't find a more loyal companion.

History: This sweetheart arrived to rescue off of a reservation when he needed help. He is a nice boy hoping to find a family of his own!
A note the foster: Buddy, as we call him, is a sweet older boy. He is nothing short of calm and cooperative. Even though he is very new to our home, we can tell he fits in well with others. Contrary to his basset hound heritage, he has not made a single howl for us. Notable, he seems very happy to be warm and surrounded by his companions next to the fire.

History: Candy was an unclaimed stray at a rural impound. This little girl has won our hearts! She is a darling little 8 lb. peanut that is patiently waiting to find a family of her own.
A note from the foster: Candy is the definition of a true sweetheart. You will be her favorite person if you offer her a warm lap to snuggle up on! She is house broke and crate trained. I have been letting her sleep outside of her kennel, just because she is SO well behaved. She is friendly with all people, and loves kids!
Candy's sweet personality will melt your heart. She is such a loving gal. She rarely barks, and wines occassionally when she gets excited to play with other dogs or her squeaky toys. She enjoys going on walks and does well with a harness/leash. She is such a good friend!
Candy would do best in a home willing to give her lots of snuggles and kisses. She loves other friendly dogs and enjoys being around kids! She is the perfect dog if you are looking for a true companion!
I cannot say enough positive things about Miss Candy. Give her a chance and no doubt your heart will be melting in no time!

History: Colby breaks our heart. He arrived to rescue yesterday and is very shut-down, he was afraid to make eye contact with the camera. He is an older gentleman that previously lived locked up in a dark shed. He deserves to know what the good life feels like.
A note the foster: Colby won a place in my heart the day he came into my home. He came from such a sad circumstance and appeared depressed and withdrawn. His hind legs were atrophied from living day after day in a crate alone in a dark shed and complicated by some hip deformities. He had a skin infection and had lost much of the hair on the lower portion of his back. Underweight. Ear infection. Oral mass. Life had been so hard for this elderly dog.
Jump forward six weeks: Colby is gaining weight! He has a good appetite and patiently eats his dog food which is fortified with bone broth to help him heal and gain weight. Colby is not food aggressive and eats with gentlemanly good manners. With some gentle exercise (walking outdoors) the strength in his legs is improving and he walks (and occasionally runs) with a more steady gait. He loves being outdoors and is usually the last of his pack to come in. He has difficulty sitting down and must be partially lifted into the car, but he is so cooperative and a good rider. His skin infection is nearly resolved and the hair is growing back in. If it grows in as lush as the hair on the rest of his body he is going to be one handsome guy! The ear infection is gone. Colby is now willing to look you in the eye and though there remains a look of sadness, he is learning that humans can and will love him, and stroke him, and talk gently to him. And he is able to come to his humans with a wagging tail and gentle nuzzle to request the love and attention he has never had in all of his 12 years. This is one amazing dog!
Colby is working on house training and has come a long way. He needs to be taken outside frequently during the day and may indicate his need in between by exhibiting some restlessness or standing by the door. He has had no accidents while in his crate where he spends the night and when no one is home.
Colby seems most comfortable in his crate. His crate is in the living room so he can be among the rest of his family (dog and human) and the door is left open for him all day so he can decide where he wants to spend his time. He seldom lays on the floor or in a dog bed, seemingly he prefers his crate. He has earned the right to make that choice.
Colby gets along great with the other dogs in the house. He is non-aggressive and just walks away if another dog gets too pushy. The other dogs generally seem to understand he is elderly and dignified and give him his space if he wants that. He does interact with them in a very gentle and kind way. He has not been exposed to cats while in my care so I can't comment on that, but there has been no reason to think there would be a problem.
Children seem to love him. From my 3 month old granddaughter on up to the older teens he is gentle and affectionate and they in return reciprocate. Visitors to my home are drawn to him and he is happy to receive their attention gracefully.
Colby has yet to be neutered and the oral mass must be investigated. It is unclear how much the oral mass will impact his longevity. He needs to gain a little more weight before any surgery can be done, but we hope it will be within the next 2-3 weeks. His future humans will need to understand and accept this medical situation however it turns out, but he deserves a comfortable home filled with love, patience, empathy, and humans who value his life.
I feel Colby would do well in any home, but would be perfect for someone who had limited activity tolerance but unlimited love and understanding to give to Colby. He is so dignified and calm! He is a real gentleman!

History: Freckles is a very sweet girl. She orginally needed rescue years ago when her family no longer wanted her- she had lived outdoors her entire life. We were contacted about her during horribly cold temperatures, we were so sad to hear that she had been living outdoors in such terrible weather. Freckles settled into rescue and quickly won her foster mom's heart. She was adopted but then recently returned when her adopter passed away. She is back in rescue and really hoping to find a family of her own- no older gal deserves to be bounced around.
A note from the foster: She is indeed house trained. She would do best in a quiet home. Is very low maintenance and just wants someone to love her and give some attention every now and again. Does well on a leash, likes short slow walks. She likes warm, fluffy dog beds to sleep in.

History: These two sweethearts needed rescue when their owner moved to hospice- they had no where to go except a kill shelter. We welcomed them and they have won our hearts. They are on a diet and doing well. They are very sweet and have heart-warming smiles. They would love to find a home together if possible.
A note from the foster:
ACTIVELY SEEKING A HUMAN: Two super adorable little senior buddies with nine years of cuddle experience and many more years to improve their techniques. Will provide smiles, cuddles and kisses in exchange for love and food.
In case you didn't gather it from the photos, Joan and Jett are really quite the pair! They are super great little companions who want nothing more than a lap to cuddle up on and a face to lick. :) They are both house trained once they learn where the outside door of their new environment is, and they do a really good job of letting me know when they need to go outside!
Joan: Joan, the larger of the two dogs, is the ultimate love bug! She wants to be with you all the time and will nudge you with her head for attention and gaze into your eyes, tail wagging, when you pet her. She enjoys borrowing up under a warm blanket and loves to eat too- as you can see in the pictures. ;) Joan is quite the character, instantly adores everyone she meets, and is definitely a sweetheart!
Jett: Jett is an adorable little dude! He has all the best characteristics of the Chihuahua- he is cuddly as well as super silly! (And not at all snippy.) He does the classic, happy, Chihuahua army crawl across the floor when he is feeling happy and loves to hang out with you on the sofa. He takes a little encouragement to warm up to new people but he is an excellent little companion once he is comfortable! He is super duper sweet and silly!
Joan and Jett would love to meet you and are really hoping hard for an application with their names on it so they can come home for the holidays this year!!

History: Karon is a super sweet and pretty easy boy. He needed rescue from an unfortunate situation but is settling in nicely to his foster home. He is hoping to find a family of his own!
A note from the foster: Karon is a sweet little guy who loves belly rubs and cuddling. He has little burst of energy where he will run around the house and play with toys. He then settles on the couch for a nice long nap. Karon gets super excited when he sees you pick up his leash and harness. He will run to the door and do a “happy dance”. He really enjoys going for walks and spending time outside. He also does well in the car and seems to enjoy car rides.
Karon gets along well with other dogs. We have a large lab and Karon follows him around the yard and doesn’t mind sharing the couch with him. Karon has been excited to meet other dogs at adoption events and seems to get along with dogs of all sizes. He just doesn’t like if the dog plays too rough with him.
Overall Karon is an easy-going guy who loves attention. If you are looking for a lap dog to keep you company, Karon would be a perfect match!

History: Mister Gus needed rescue from an overcrowded shelter. He was a volunteer-favorite and they pleaded for help for him. He is such a special guy- he has a big smile and ages like George Clooney. We are really hoping that his age does not affect potential adoption interest for him- he is a sweet and happy guy that would love to find a family of his own!

History: Moka needed rescue after living by herself in an outdoor kennel for 5 years- under a camper topper for shelter. This poor girl was desperate for attention. She is very sweet and learning about the good life. Unfortunately at her veterinary appointment we determined she has a mass internally, likely connected to several organs, so we decided not to pursue surgery to remove it. She may have several months or years left- but either way we want to be sure it is the best time of her life. She is hoping to find a family of her own!
A note from the foster:
Moka has really settled in to the “good life!” She is a very affectionate and calm dog who just wants to be close to people and shown affection. She doesawesome with our cat and has not shown any aggression or really any interest in him at all. She likes to play with other dogs, toys, and balls, but she is still a little unsure if it is ok. We make sure that her toys are heavy duty, because she has made short work of some of the cheap toys. She is calm and rarely barks, unless there is a knock at the door. We were able to housetrain her in the matter of a week, but we make sure to take her out before bed, right away in the morning, and after each feeding. She is not a big fan of her kennel/crate yet, but she goes in with a little coaxing and is fine until we get home. She knows the sit command and we are currently working on stay, and how she walks on a leash. She wants to pull, but takes corrections well. One of her favorite thing to do is jog alongside her human, stretch her legs, and feel the wind in her hair! She is a bit older, and doesn’t require more than a couple shorter walks/jogs per day.
I believe Moka would fit many types of households, but would probably do best with someone who works from home or can spend more time with her around. Because of her situation before rescue, she isn’t a big fan of being left alone. She is very gentle, quiet, and calm and I think she would love a fenced yard to freely sniff around and be a dog. A household with another calm dog may be nice, as well, and help teach her how to be a carefree dog again.

History: This poor guy needed rescue from an overcrowded shelter. He was in terrible condition and needed to be shaved. He is settling into his foster home. More pictures and updates to come.
A note from the foster: Mordy is a shy guy, but slowly coming out of his shell! He still prefers to spend his time in his kennel. He is very scared of loud noises and fast movements. But he is very slowly starting to come around. He would do best in a quiet household with no small children, and no other dogs. For the most part, he tolerates my dogs, but not a fan. He loves to be outside, so long as someone is with him. He likes to sniff and explore. Overall, I think he's a great old man!

History: This poor guy found himself at an overcrowded shelter needing help. He is an older gentleman that obviously has not lived a beautiful past. He is the sweetest boy and deserves the best. He is hoping to find a family of his own!
A note from the foster: Norman is a sweet old man who is learning to play with toys. He is a sweet sweet boy. Norman has a broken sphincter valve so does not have control of his bowel movements. He is a sweet, lovable, quiet dog that loves attention when he can get it. He has done a great job with potty training on the number 1 side and has that down! He is an easy going guy with lots of love to give.

History: Sal needed rescue from a rural impound. He has been a volunteer favorite. He was not initially used to home-life but has quickly learned to appreciate it. He is a really nice boy with sweet brown eyes. He would love to find a family to give him everything he deserves, to make up for the neglected life he had prior to rescue!
A note from the foster: Sal is an adult lab mix that has no clue he is not a puppy!! He cannot get enough human attention! He wants nothing more than to sit on a lap. In Sal’s world the best things ever invented were squeaky toys. He carries them all over the place! He has had no potty accidents in his kennel at all. Goes into his kennel nicely. He is a very active boy that loves to be around his people. He also loves to “shake”!

History: Shira is a beautiful girl-inside and out. She has had a neglectful past but we are excited to help give her the love and care she deserves. She would love to find a family of her own!
She is one SWEET, gentle girl. House trained, great with other dogs and did not seem to mind the vets cat either.....
A note from the foster: Shira is a gentle older gal who loves affection and is content to nap in her bed or in the warm sun in the grass. She is convinced she is a tiny lap dog but at 60 lbs, she is a lap full:) She gets along great with any size dog or cat and is so gentle with kids. Shira has some arthritis and does not do a lot of steps easily and prefers not to be in a crate but does fine without one. Fully house trained and knows commands. Very quiet lovely girl.

History: Poor Tank needed rescue from an overcrowded shelter. He has settled into his foster home and has won our hearts. He is a sweet old man, visually impaired, hoping to find a family of his own. He enjoys the company of people and other dogs.
A note from the foster: Tank is the perfect pal for anyone young or old. He is an older soul who is house trained, kennel trained, AND cat, dog and kid friendly who spends the majority of his day snuggled up in his bed napping. He is partially blind but that doesn’t slow him down much as he loves to explore inside the house or outside in the yard. He adapts quickly to a routine and is very low-maintenance. He’s got a nose for treats and is a perfect cuddle companion.
